Meet our leaders

Originally from Michigan, Pastor Matt Vanderbilt has called North Carolina home for more than 25 years. As Lead Pastor of Vision Church, he leads our staff, shepherds our church family, and serves as the primary communicator each Sunday, guiding and challenging people to grow in their relationship with Jesus. Matt is known for his conversational teaching style, taking biblical truth and presenting it in a creative, relevant way that connects to everyday life. As a husband and father of more than 25 years, he also has a heart for helping people build healthy marriages and families while encouraging them to follow Jesus in every stage of life.

Teaching Team Member

Pastor X is a father, husband, and he’s known for his impactful, humorous, and down to earth speaking. He’s trained thousands of people internationally, from CEOs, pastors, teachers, and investors. He specializes in the prophetic realm with teachings on gifts of the spirit, healings, and the supernatural.

Pastor of Pastoral Care

Pastor Al brings more than 40 years of pastoral experience in teaching, discipleship, and caring for God’s people. He and his wife, Barbrett, serve on our Care Team, and Al also leads Journey classes, helping others grow in their faith. He is a devoted family man, as enjoys spending time with his children and many grandchildren.

Operations, Host Teams & Outreach

Stacy is a key leader at Vision, overseeing operations, leading our Host Team, and coordinating outreach. She and her family own and operate two locations of Kate’s Skating Rink, where she has gained years of experience in business and working with children, families, and the community. Her leadership, organization, and heart for people help make Sundays and special events welcoming, intentional, and impactful.

Worship Team Leader

Tommy serves as our Worship Team Leader, guiding our church in authentic and Spirit-led worship each Sunday. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Education and currently teaches elementary school in Gaston County. Tommy has been involved in worship ministry since high school and serves as a vocalist and plays bass and keyboard. He is passionate about using his gifts to help people encounter God.

Worship Experience Coordinator

Elana serves as our Worship Experience Coordinator, helping each Sunday flow with excellence and  intention. She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Biblical and Educational Studies and has served in church ministry since middle school. She coordinates service details by supporting tech and sound and working with the worship team and communicators to help create an environment where people encounter Jesus.

Preschool Ministry Leader

Leah serves as our Preschool Ministry Leader, overseeing Camp First Sight and creating a safe place for our youngest kids to learn about God. She holds a degree in Early Childhood Education and has more than 30 years of experience as both an educator and administrator. She has also written curriculum  throughout her career, and she loves using her experience to help young children grow in their faith.

Elementary Ministry Leader

Alyse serves as our Elementary Ministry Leader, overseeing Camp Trailblazer and creating a place where kids can learn about God. She holds bachelor’s and master's degrees in Social Work and has 6+ years of experience working with pediatric patients at a hospital in Charlotte. Early in her career, she worked with Social Services to help preserve  families. She brings that experience, along with her experience as a foster and adoptive mom, to her ministry at Vision. 

Finance Team

Carye serves on our Finance Team, bringing years of experience in the business world to her role at Vision. She works alongside our external bookkeeper and Advisory Board to maintain financial integrity and ensure our resources are handled with care and in a way that honors Christ. Carye uses her experience and skills to help support the ministry and make what happens at Vision possible.

Ministry Assistant

Flower serves as our Ministry Assistant, supporting Vision through social media, communication, special projects, and ministry support. She holds a degree in Business and brings experience in organization, communication, and working with people. Flower also serves in leadership with our Student Ministry and VizKidz, where she brings her heart that has grown for young people through volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters and being a mom.

Operations Assistant

Alex serves as our Operations Assistant, helping set up environments at Vision for Sundays, events, small groups, Journey classes, and everything in between. As our youngest staff member and a high school student, he also assists with a variety of technology projects throughout the week. Alex is a valuable part of our team, using his time and skills to serve wherever he is needed.
